The participating organizations form a skilled and diverse network of energy efficiency experts.

During the 2017–2025 agreement period, participating organisations designated approximately 2,000 people responsible for implementing energy efficiency work at organisational or site level.

Learning and new insights

Network members were provided with useful and up-to-date information through regular communications and events.

During the period, network members came together at a variety of in-person and online events. With funding from the Energy Authority, Motiva organised approximately 215 energy efficiency events during the agreement period. These events attracted nearly 13,000 participants from organisations participating in the agreements.

In addition to events, practical examples of measures taken are shared through published “Participant Story” articles; over 250 such articles were published during the agreement period.

Useful information from joint projects available to everyone

Implementation of the agreements was also accelerated through joint projects coordinated by Motiva. Organisations participating in extensive joint projects on different themes broadened and deepened their expertise through peer learning and the information collected in the projects. The projects also produced practical information that supports more efficient energy use and is available to all participants.

The four joint projects carried out towards the end of the period focused on energy management. Participating companies built or developed their own energy management systems. In the projects, the companies learned from experienced experts about implementing ETJ+ and strengthened their expertise through self-assessment and peer learning.

Municipalities learning from one another

Between 2020 and 2021, a small group of municipalities familiarized themselves with each other’s energy efficiency work and generated tips and lessons to improve the implementation of the energy efficiency agreement for the benefit of all municipalities. Building on the positive results of the first peer-learning project, the initiative continued with a second project in 2021–2022.

In 2024, a group of municipalities participated in a development program aimed at improving the energy efficiency of municipal swimming halls and increasing the use of new technological solutions. A subsequent development project in 2025 focused on municipal sports halls and ice arenas.
